15KandC09's notes about this work:
This is more of a speech that is a response to a comment that was made to me about a year and a half ago. A response that should have been made then, but now is the first time that I have had the power to say it, or even type it.
You want to say that I am not a patriot, that I wish to bring about the demise of America in some way, shape, or form. You try to say that my decisions are bringing about that exact result, but you are wrong. I may not bleed for this country, or put my life on the line for it, but I sure as all Hell support those who do. I was raised to take care of those who take care of you, and that is exactly what I do. I support those who risk life, limb, sanity, and a normal life to serve our country. I also support their friends and family, because it can be just as hard on them when someone that they care about is deployed. These men and women risk everything and are often given nothing in return, or very little. My gratitude may not seem like much to you, but I know that it means the world to the soldiers, knowing that they have the support of the homefront. I always have a reminder of those serving our country. It is not a flag, or an eagle. It is not a sign or bumpersticker saying, "God Bless America". It is the red blood coarsing through my veins, the color of those veins that I can see in my arm, the skin that never is touched by sunlight, and thus is so pale that it does seem white. More importantly, it is the pictures that I can see when I close my eyes, the memories, of the ones that I love that either are serving or have served, and the knowledge that there has been at least one person in my family that was serving America in each and every war that she has faught. I will always honor the soldiers: past, present, and future. So, you had better not dare to try to say that I do not love this country or its military, because I swear to you on all that I hold dear that there is nothing that will stop me from supporting our troops! Answer me this one question. If I truly wanted America destroyed, why would I care so much about this country, its soldiers, and fixing what is wrong with it?
