lilmraznbaka's notes about this work:
The horror!
At night a monster comes to hide,
Inside my closet--he resides.
He stays all night against my will;
I see him through the darkness still.
I tell him that he'd better leave
For when he's gone I would not grieve.
And yet he ignores all my whims;
My anger wells up--limb to limb.
I tell him that I want him gone;
He tells me he'll stay here till dawn,
Maybe even longer after,
I drown out his voice with laughter.
His countenance turns into shock
My airy laughter rings and mocks.
He backs away into the dark
With no retort--with no remark.
I tell him that when dawn arrives,
His death will be my valued prize.
And so it was--the sun crept in;
I tell the beast, "I always win."
The monster gone--I won my sleep;
Into the bed I crawled in deep.
The shining night--I reigned supreme,
But it was only a dream.
Comments on "The Monster"
i like it. I have learned (recently) that poetry does not have to ryme although i must say good job
It's very good. I like it, especially the dream element to it, as well as the power that the dreamer has to exterminate what was once feared and/or hated.
