Love...
ensellitis's notes about this work:

I cant sleep, so this somehow spewed out of me...

I heard you say love is something poets had invented,
What you have said must be contested.

Sure we all know that love can be painful.
Hell, at times it can downright dreadful.

Have you ever seen her wake next to you with a smile,
It can make the old pain seem nearly worthwhile.

Then you hold her as she slowly wakes,
She begins to stretch and her whole body shakes.
You stare deeply into her sleepy eyes,
You can't say shit, you can only sigh.
You give her a kiss before she can say a word,
Proving true love is shown, not heard.

Now after picturing that, try losing it all.
That's when you learn to walk before you crawl.

So please don't dismiss love just that quick...
I'm telling you from experience, it is worth the risk...

Truly touching, well-written and honestly expressed -- not to mention the echoing wisdom behind the words.

"Now after picturing that, try losing it all.
That's when you learn to walk before you crawl."

That's my favorite couplet in this poem, if only for the fact that it provides the harsh reality to the lush and pleasant imagery immediately preceding it and the couplet that follows it; in an extremely small amount of space and time you've managed to string together the best and worst of the world of love and furthermore to provide resolution in declaring its intrinsic worth and value -- and thusly the defeat of the argument of some people dismissing love as frivolous, superficial, or what have you.

This piece really spoke to me, and the simple honesty that you demonstrate in this style of writing works better than most other writing I've read; you said everything exactly how it is, and the images and emotions behind them did not fail once to come through clearly and with immense pull.

You really hit me with this one, and I would find it hard to believe that any other person couldn't say the same. I know I've said that already, but jeez. Really -- remarkable job. There's nothing like a good punch in the gut every once in a while.

Thanks for sharing.
